Ma. Belcher et Gp. Stewart, 2-YEAR CLINICAL-EVALUATION OF AN AMALGAM ADHESIVE, The Journal of the American Dental Association, 128(3), 1997, pp. 309-314
This study compared the clinical effectiveness of an amalgam adhesive
as the principal mode of retention for large, complex amalgam restorat
ions with traditional pin-retained amalgams. Restorations were evaluat
ed for retention and reinforcement, postoperative sensitivity, margina
l adaptation and recurrent decay. At the end of two years, all restora
tions were completely retained and rated Alfa for each of the paramete
rs evaluated. An amalgam adhesive proved clinically effective as a sui
table alternative to pin retention.
