A. Debnath et Sk. Sanyal, EVALUATION OF POTASSIUM QUANTITY-INTENSITY RELATIONSHIPS IN SOME SOILS OF WEST-BENGAL, Journal of the Indian Chemical Society, 74(2), 1997, pp. 110-113
Studies on quantity/intensity (Q/I) relations of potassium (K+) hare b
een conducted using six soils of West Bengal with contrasting properti
es. Several important parameters have been evaluated, and their depend
ence oil soil properties discussed. The poolsize of labile K+ as well
as its lability in soils have been found to follow the equilibrium act
ivity ratios (AR(e)(K)). The influence of Gapon exchange selectivity c
oefficients (K-G) on Q/I relationships of the given soils is also asce
rtained The approximate validity of the (CEC.K-G) products, leading to
the PBCK of the soils, was put to a test for the given soils with enc
ouraging results. The use of interpolated K-G values at Delta K-exch() = 0 in assessing the K+ availability in the given soils has been fur
ther examined.
