Abstract
The distribution of rat calcitonin receptor mRNA in the brain and pitu itary gland were examined by in situ hybridization. Labelled cells wer e found in the nucleus accumbens, the preoptic and medial preoptic are as, the paraventricular nucleus of the hypothalamus, and the arcuate n ucleus; a smaller number of cells were found in the brainstem and olfa ctory bulb. No strongly labelled cells were found in the pituitary gla nd.
