Abstract
Generalized amyloid protein A (AA) amyloidosis was diagnosed in a 12-w eek-old puppy which had been presented for intermittent lethargy, feve r, and reluctance to walk. Diagnosis was made by histological examinat ion of biopsies taken during exploratory laparotomy and was confirmed by necropsy. The primary cause was an underlying chronic inflammatory syndrome, most likely originating from chronic endocarditis, inducing protracted acute-phase phenomena.
