A. Mughannam et J. Reinke, AVULSION OF THE GASTROCNEMIUS TENDON IN 3 CATS, The Journal of the American Animal Hospital Association, 30(6), 1994, pp. 550-556
Avulsion of the gastrocnemius tendon was diagnosed in three cats. This
previously unreported condition in the cat has been described in the
dog. The significant findings on physical examination included a uniqu
e lameness. The presence of this lameness combined with physical exami
nation and radiography led to the diagnosis. Surgery or external coapt
ation, or both, was performed in all three cats which resulted in a re
solution of lameness in each case.
