1. At the end of the labelling periods only in spring Ca-45 was detect
able in the shoot compartments. At the corresponding date in late somm
er Ca-45 was not detectable (values < 0.1 nval Ca/g dm). 2. In the fol
lowing exchange period it became visible, that in late sommer the Ca-u
ptake only was in retard and not stopped. 3. The closer to the roots a
nd elder the branch-fractions were the more calcium was translocated t
o them. So the 1-year old branches in the top of the trees got less ca
lcium than the older branches at the base of the trees. 4. The new flu
shes were shown as higher sinks for calcium during their development.
5. After 1 growing season there was no visual effect between the spruc
es grown under different calcium-provisions.
