Abstract
Failure to remove DNA damage is potentially lethal. Eukaryotic cells h ave therefore devised highly effective ways of detecting and repairing DNA lesions. Recent evidence indicates that protein kinases play esse ntial roles in recognizing DNA damage and in transducing DNA damage si gnals to bring about changes in cellular metabolism that facilitate DN A repair.
