Abstract
Monochlorobenzene is included on the List of Priority Substances to be assessed under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act. Relevant da ta were critically evaluated to assess the potential human health effe cts of exposure to monochlorobenzene in the Canadian environment. Base d on available data, it is concluded that monochlorobenzene is ''possi bly carcinogenic to humans''. The estimated average daily intakes of m onochlorobenzene for the various age groups in the general population in Canada are approximately 60 to 170 times less than the tolerable da ily intake derived from studies in laboratory animals.
