Abstract
Styrene has been assessed as a Priority Substance under the Canadian E nvironmental Protection Act. Based on available data, styrene has been classified as ''possibly carcinogenic to humans'', and tolerable dail y intakes/concentrations developed based on relevant studies in animal s. The estimated average total daily intake of styrene by the Canadian general population is more than 50 times less than the TDI/TDC for ne urotoxic effects following inhalation, or for foetotoxic effects follo wing long-term exposure to styrene by the oral route.
