Abstract
The pH titration method was used for measuring the protonation constan ts of PnAO, and the stability constants of binary and ternary complexe s. The heats of protonation and complex formation were measured by cal orimetry. The results showed that some linear free energy relationship s (LEER) exists between the protonation constants of RPhen and the sta bility constants of Cu(II) -PnAO-RPhen ternary system. We also found t he existence of linear enthalpy relanationships (LER) in ternary syste m. The substituent effect was discussed.
