A SURVEY OF SOUTHERN ENGLAND COASTAL WATERS FOR THE S-TRIAZINE ANTIFOULING COMPOUND IRGAROL-1051

A survey of the s-triazine herbicide o-4-tert-butylamino-6-cyclopropyl amino-s-triazine, a constituent of antifouling paints, was conducted i n the coastal waters and estuaries of Kent, Sussex and Hampshire, UK. The compound was detected at significant levels in areas of high boati ng activity, particularly in marinas and in the Hamble Estuary, Hampsh ire. In contrast, lower levels of the triazine herbicides, simazine an d atrazine, were observed at these marine sites.
