Abstract
CoO(100) has been characterized by AES, XPS, and LEED subsequent to th e measurement of its Fuchs-Kliewer phonon spectrum by high resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy. The fundamental phonon frequency is observed at -68.9 meV and multiple losses are found to higher losses energy following a Poisson intensity distribution. Phonon intensity va riation with HREELS primary beam energy is also measured and indicates intrinsic dipole loss behavior.
