Abstract
Polistes (Epicnemius) occultus n. sp., a neotropical social wasp, is d escribed. Structural and colour similarity relations with other specie s of P. (Epicnemius) are discussed. A principal component analysis per formed on the covariance matrix of ten continuous morphometric charact ers, sampled in P. occultus and two related species, provides addition al support on the specific status of P. occultus.
