J. Steffens et al., RESULTS OF AN ALLOPLASTIC BLADDER NECK SU SPENSION PLASTY IN FEMALES - 11 YEARS EXPERIENCES, Aktuelle Urologie, 28(1), 1997, pp. 49-51
231 patients with urinary incontinence were treated with a bladder nec
k suspension plasty using a polyester sling. 83.1% of the patients wer
e continent an average of 4.6 years postoperatively. Perioperative com
plications were observed in 16.1% of all cases and could be treated co
nservatively. 44% of all patients developed late complications. 32.5%
required a second form of conservative and/or operative treatment. The
satisfactory postoperative success rate was limited by a high complic
ation and reintervention rate. As the polyester sling is no longer bei
ng produced and lower complication rates have been achieved with alter
native techniques, this method will not used in the future.
