W. Rasheed et M. Athar, OBSERVATIONS ON LIVESTOCK AND FEED RESOURCES OF RAWAL EXPERIMENTAL WATERSHED AREA, PAKISTAN, Zivocisna vyroba, 42(2), 1997, pp. 83-85
Livestock production is an essential agricultural activity in Pakistan
contributing about one fourth to agricultural gross domestic products
. Despite the importance of livestock in agricultural production, it h
as been the subject of much less research than the crops. The informat
ion regarding livestock of Pothwar area is scanty. The present study w
as initiated to record the total number, health and feeding pattern of
livestock of Rawal Experimental Watershed Area. Major constraints in
livestock production of the area are poor nutrition due to overgrazing
, lack of range management, and animal mortality due to disease and pa
rasite problems. The present study is of basic nature. This would not
only help in the identification of local problems and resources but al
so would assist in the better management of our resources and future p
lanning of our farming system.
