The edge capacitance corrections for thin unguarded disc electrodes pl
aced on opposite faces of a dielectric sheet or film were computed by
Wintle and Goad [1]. In their paper, they mention another calculation
done by Sate and Zaengl using a surface charge simulation method that
seemed to show some discontinuity between epsilon(2) = 1 and epsilon(2
) = 2, where epsilon(2) is the dielectric constant of the insulator. I
n this paper we have tried to reproduce the result with a different su
rface charge simulation method, as well as a region-oriented charge si
mulation approach and a finite element program in order to take a clos
er look at the discrepancy.
