The ferrimagnetic Curie temperature (T-c) and the ferrimagnetic-to-ant
iferromagnetic transition temperature (T-t) in (Cr1-xTix)(5) S-6(0 les
s than or equal to x less than or equal to 0.15) were investigated up
to 14 kbar. It is revealed that T-c, decreases nonlinearly with increa
sing pressure (P) and that T-t also decreases at high pressures. The r
atio T-t(P)/T-c(P) increases with increase in P. These nonlinear press
ure dependences of T-c(P) and T-t(P) are qualitatively discussed on th
e basis of the band structure calculation for CrS in which the stabili
ty of antiferromagnetic states is determined by Cr3d(z2)-Cr3d(z2) and
Crd-Sp interactions. Important role of Crd-Sp hybridization on the pre
ssure effect is suggested.
