Flavonoid chromatographic profiles were determined and chlorogenic and
ferulic acid were quantified in 4 maize lines with different response
s against attack by Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E. Smith), and at two lea
f growth stages. In the two leaf growth stages and in the 4 lines ther
e were differences in the flavonoid profiles, both in the number of sp
ats and in the phenolic acids amounts. These results may indicate a po
tential role far the analized compounds in leaf resistance against ins
ect attack.
