Abstract
Chromosome numbers of seven species of Cleome are reported from Venezu ela. First chromosome counts are reported for the following four speci es: Cleome arborea (2n = 32); C. pilosa (n = 29); C. stenophylla (n = 10); and C. torticarpa (n = 8). Chromosome numbers for C. gynandra (n = 17); C. rutidosperma (n = 15); and C. spinosa (n = 10), are corrobor ated. Meiotic anomalies are reported in C.
