A summary is given of the main presentations and ideas discussed durin
g a workshop on the Hyades star cluster held in 1992. The topics cover
ed include: a summary of the cluster characteristics, distance determi
nations for the cluster based upon astrometric and photometric techniq
ues, the cluster main-sequence and zero-age main-sequence calibrations
based upon the Hyades, the cluster distance scale, spectroscopic char
acteristics of cluster stars, and recent proper-motion results for the
cluster. Various estimates based upon direct and indirect methods of
deriving the duster's distance suggest that the cluster distance modul
us is about m - M approximate to 3.2 (44 pc), although an uncertainty
of +/-0.1 or even +/-0.2 remains.
