T. David et al., TREATMENT OF CANINE HIP-DYSPLASIA BY TRIP LE PELVIC OSTEOTOMY WITH AXIAL TILTING AND TURNING OF THE ACETABULUM - RESULTS OF A MULTICENTER STUDY, Praktische Tierarzt, 75(11), 1994, pp. 973
A total of 30 dogs was evaluated by pelvic measuring using seven crite
ria both before and after surgery. The measurements are intended to se
rve as a future international standard and will hopefully lead to a st
andardisation of hip measuring both in human and veterinary medicine.
All parameters permit an objective prognosis of the effects of surgery
. The results of the study were confirmed by a very good to good posto
perative clinical outcome. Triple pelvic osteotomy therefore is, when
used by an experienced surgeon and under aseptic conditions, a cleary
successful method for treating canine hip dysplasia. The authors propo
se a practicable treatment schedule for canine hip dysplasia which is
based on many years surgical and clinical experience.
