This report describes the case histories of two calves with non-functi
onal malunion of the metacarpus (MC) III/IV. In both cases, severe val
gus deviation occurred after closed reduction and external coaptation
of a shaft fracture of MC III/IV. The malunion was corrected by closin
g a edge osteotomy and internal fixation. Long term follow-up of both
cases revealed complete healing in good alignment without any signs of
impairment of gait.
