Abstract
The dispersion relation, the excess attenuation, and the attenuation c oefficient B of the second sound damped by a quantized vortex are calc ulated in a rotating reference frame. With the centrifugal force inclu ded in the superfluid equations of motion, we confirm that the dispers ion and the attenuation of the second sound in a rotating frame are eq ual to Lee, Um, Chang, and Choi's results in a resting frame. We concl ude that in the hydrodynamic region (1.2 K < T < 1.9 K) the excess att enuation due to the quantized vortex predominantly originates from the centrifugal force arising from the vortical velocity field.
