C. Noguez et Rg. Barrera, DISORDER EFFECTS ON THE EFFECTIVE DIELECTRIC RESPONSE OF A LINEAR-CHAIN OF POLARIZABLE SPHERES, Physica. A, 211(4), 1994, pp. 399-410
We perform a numerical simulation in order to calculate the dielectric
response, to a long wavelength external field, for a linear chain of
polarizable spheres embedded in a homogeneous host. The dielectric res
ponse is calculated within the dipolar, quasi-static approximation, an
d the position of each sphere is generated using three different types
of disorder algorithms. The induced dipole moment on each sphere is c
alculated by solving a set of linear equations and using periodic boun
dary conditions. The imaginary part of the dielectric response as a fu
nction of frequency is shown and analyzed for the three types of disor
der. These are also characterized through the calculation of the two-p
article distribution function of the spheres.
