A 3 1/2-year-old boy presented with recurrent episodes of severe abdom
inal pain, fever, and jaundice. During these episodes, his liver and g
allbladder were enlarged and there was a left axillary soft-tissue swe
lling. Laparotomy revealed a retroperitoneal mass causing biliary obst
ruction. Biopsy of this mass and the axillary swelling was suggestive
of Kimura's disease. Subsequently, the child developed a facioparotid
mass typical of Kimura's disease. There was dramatic regression with s
teroids.
