Af. Allaz et al., ABSENCE FROM WORK AND ILLNESS BEHAVIOR IN CHRONIC PAIN PATIENTS, Schweizerische medizinische Wochenschrift, 124(45), 1994, pp. 2032-2035
Factors relating to working status, i.e. whether the subject is still
at work or on workmen's compensation, have been studied in chronic pai
n patients. Sociodemographic and pain variables were not correlated wi
th absence from work, nor was diagnosis. However, beliefs and attitude
s concerning pain differed between patients still working and those on
workmen's compensation. In chronic pain patients medical attention sh
ould focus not only on description of symptoms but also on the ''illne
ss behaviour'' dimension.
