Abstract
The Ne-19(p, gamma)Na-20 reaction may influence considerably the react ion flow between the CNO and NeNa mass regions in high temperature hyd rogen burning conditions. The 447 keV resonance has been studied by ex ploiting radioactive Ne-19 beams with novel detection techniques to me asure beta(+)-delayed alpha radioactivity of Na-20 nuclei produced in reactions with polyethylene targets. A 90% C.L. upper limit of 18 meV for the resonance strength has been determined and implications for th e spin assignment of the 2.646 MeV state in Na-20 and the stellar reac tion rate are discussed.
