Abstract
During May-June 1993, an outbreak of acute diarrhoea resulting in deat hs primarily in adults was reported in two districts of Orissa state. Epidemiological and microbiological investigations revealed that this outbreak was caused by V. cholerae 01 biotype ElTor. V. cholerae 01 st rains were uniformly resistant to furazolidone.
