Measurements of the tilt angle, response time tau(s) and of the polari
zation were performed in compounds presenting several chiral smectic m
esophases. The behaviour of these parameters under an a.c. electric fi
eld, make them interesting for electrooptical devices. We will show th
at the electrooptical measurements are good to identify the ferroelect
ric phases.
