Local exhaust ventilation, together with a means of arrestment and dis
posal of airborne particulates, provides the basis of the vast majorit
y of dust control solutions in foundries and a multitude of other indu
stries. The paper concentrates on dry bag filtration, and demonstrates
how a basically simple and very economical form of dust and fume cont
rol can be applied to more arduous conditions to improve the working e
nvironment within foundries, as well as reducing emissions to the atmo
sphere, within the scope of current and anticipated legislation.
