Abstract
We present a developmental psychobiologic framework to improve the und erstanding of developmental and mental disorders. Tourette syndrome (T S) is our model condition for the effort, as we review our studies on the condition in conjunction with the comorbidities with which it ofte n presents. TS serves not only as a biologic marker for certain locali zable and definable central nervous system processes, but also may ser ve a transacting function across biological and psychological levels o f organization.
