Abstract
The unpredictable, chronic course, and obscure cause of inflammatory b owel disease (IBD) have led to the study of the possible role of psych ologic factors in the elucidation and management of these conditions. This article reviews the evolving models of psychopathology in IBD and their implications for its diagnosis and treatment.
