Abstract
We report the first observation of flexoelectricity in a new class of liquid crystalline materials: the metallorganic liquid crystal azocomp ound obtained by complexation with palladium. From our experimental da ta we can estimate both the values of the flexoelectric constants \e\ = \e(1) - e(3)\ and of the viscosity coefficient gamma(1). The obtaine d value of \e\ for these unusual materials are found to be similar to that of usual nematics.
