Lr. Motowidlo et al., DEPENDENCE OF CRITICAL-CURRENT DENSITY ON FILAMENT DIAMETER IN ROUND MULTIFILAMENT AG-SHEATHED BI2SR2CACU2OX WIRES PROCESSED IN O-2, Applied physics letters, 65(21), 1994, pp. 2731-2733
Ag-sheathed Bi2Sr2CaCuOx round wires having 37 and 259 filaments, with
filament diameters ranging from 11 to 100 mu m, were fabricated by th
e oxide-powder-in-tube method. They were heat treated using step-solid
ification melt processing in air and pure O-2. The transport critical
current density was highest in wires processed in pure O-2. It increas
ed with decreasing filament diameter and was highest [165 000 A/cm(2)
(4.2 K, O T)] in wires with 11 mu m filaments processed in O-2.
