Abstract
Guidelines for the establishment of an HNPCC-register are presented. T he aims of a register are discussed. Steps in identification of famili es and persons at risk are suggested, and possible sources of family a nd pedigree data are mentioned. The role of a resister in surveillance , information of family members and medical colleagues, research and i nternational collaboration are discussed.
