The sour crude oil processing leads to the discharge of waters having
a high H2S - and sulphides - content (i.e. 150-200 mg/L versus 1-3 mg/
L as provided in the project) from the petrochemical units. This paper
presents the experimental studies performed to remove the H2S- and su
lphide - content from the polluted waters, by physico-chemical treatme
nt. By applying these studies to commercial scale operations the water
s treatment level was increased. The S2- concentration evolution in a
physico-chemical water treatment plant is presented, rendering evident
the analytic control part played in optimizing the technological proc
ess.
