I. Keshet et D. Rachmilewitz, GENETICS OF CROHNS-DISEASE - NO LINK WITH THE PSEUDOAUTOSOMAL REGION OF THE X-CHROMOSOME, European journal of gastroenterology & hepatology, 6(12), 1994, pp. 1149-1152
Objective: In view of the high prevalence of Crohn's disease among wom
en with Turner's syndrome, we searched for a putative Crohn's disease
locus on the X chromosome, which is deleted in Turner's syndrome. Subj
ects and methods: Because Crohn's disease is equally prevalent in men
and women, the search was focused on the pseudoautosomal region of the
X chromosome. Blood samples from two families with healthy siblings a
nd siblings with Crohn's disease were analysed by restriction fragment
length polymorphism. The probes used in the analysis were derived fro
m the pseudoautosomal region of the X chromosome. Results: No link was
found between Crohn's disease and the pseudoautosomal region of the X
chromosome. Conclusion: The putative Crohn's disease locus is not loc
ated in the pseudoautosomal region of the X chromosome.
