Abstract
A conducting solid sphere is translating and rotating both with expone ntial time dependent decay in an electrically conducting viscous liqui d. This motion takes place in the presence of a magnetic field which o riginates both in the interior and exterior of the moving sphere. The fluid velocity and magnetic fields are analytically constructed in a c oncise form, and a compact expression is given for the drag on the sph ere. (C) 1997 American Institute of Physics.
