The results of studies of the temperature dependence of the magnetic s
usceptibility of xFe2O3.(1-x)[Bi2O3.PbO] glasses with 0 < x less-than-
or-equal-to 20 mol% are reported. The data gives evidence that the iro
n ions in these glasses are in Fe2+ valence states. From Curie constan
t values the molar fraction of these ions is determined. For samples w
ith x greater-than-or-equal-to 3 mol% Fe2O3, a mictomagnetic type orde
r is evidenced.
