Abstract
The kinetics of formic acid oxidation by ozone in a medium of acetic a cid in the presence of Mn(IV) is studied. It is established that the c atalytic effect of Mn(IV) on this process is inconsistent with already known mechanisms. A reaction scheme is suggested, which includes the stage of formation of complexes of formic acid with Mn(IV). It is foun d that the catalytic activity of Mn(IV) in the process studied is lowe r than that of Co(III).
