Ks. Ganesh et Cn. Krishnan, SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF NOVEL BINUCLEATING COMPOUNDS, Synthesis and reactivity in inorganic and metal-organic chemistry, 24(10), 1994, pp. 1789-1803
Novel doubly bidentate Schiff base and bis-carboxyamide ligands were p
repared by condensing 4,4'-diaminodiphenylsulphone with salicylaldehyd
e/phenylglyoxal/maleic anhydride. These were then reacted with Cu(II),
Co(II), NI(II) and Fe(II) salts to form their respective complexes. T
he complexes are dark coloured, high melting substances insoluble in c
ommon organic solvents. They have been characterised based on their co
mposition, UV-visible, infrared and ESR spectral data, magnetic suscep
tibility and thermal studies. In the light of the results obtained, st
ructures of the complexes have been proposed.
