New mixed-ligand complexes of oxovanadium(IV) of the general formula [
VO(C2O4)(o-PDA)], where o-PDA = o-phenylenediamine, and [VO(C2O4)(L)(2
)], where L = N-methylaniline (NMA), N,N'-dimethylaniline (NNDMA), N,N
'-diethylaniline (NNDEA), o-toluidine (o-TD), m-toLuidine (m-TD), o-an
isidine (o-ANS), m-aniaidine (m-ANS), o-phenetidine (o-pD) or m-phenet
idine (m-TD) have been synthesized by refluxing (oxalato) (diaquo)axov
anadium(IV) with the said aromatic amines. The resulting complexes hav
e been characterized on the basis of elemental analyses, vanadium dete
rmination, molar conductances, magnetic measurements and infrared spec
tral studies. Rectangular-pyramidal structures are likely for these co
mplexes.
