Abstract
Materials used in experiments for optical wavefront reversing as a too l for phase aberration correction are reviewed. The recent experimenta l results in optical phase conjugation in the near infrared are summar ized. Photorefractive oxides and their feasibility to use these materi als in this wavelength range as well as bulk semiconductors with the c orresponding bandgap and dopant are reviewed by listing the nonlinear optical properties and the measured results in optical phase conjugati ng experiments. Advantages of each material is confronted with the dra wbacks. Different enhancement techniques are presented in order to imp rove the corresponding material parameters. Several applications and e xperiments are discussed.
