Abstract
A novel compound, PS-990, which induces differentiation of neuroblasto ma cells, was isolated from the culture broth of a fungus, Acremonuim sp. KY12702. PS-990 inhibited brain calcium/calmodulin-dependent cycli c nucleotide phosphodiesterase with an IC50 value of 3 mu g/ml, and ma rkedly induced neurite extension of mouse neuroblastoma, Neuro2A, at c oncentrations ranging from 10 to 30 mu g/ml.
