The wave forms of motion of a thin infinite shell of revolution define
d by initial displacements and velocities localized in the neighbourho
od of a parallel are studied. Using the method developed in [1], a sol
ution of the equations of motion is constructed as a superposition of
tangential and flexural wave packets propagating in the direction of t
he shell axis. As an example, an elongated conical shell is considered
