Cla. Lamont et al., THE ADSORPTION AND DEHYDROGENATION OF CYCLOHEXANE ON THE (1X1) AND (5X20) SURFACES OF PT(100), Chemical physics letters, 230(3), 1994, pp. 265-270
The adsorption and dehydrogenation of cyclohexane on the (1 x 1) and (
5 x 20) surfaces of Pt{100} have been investigated using EELS. On both
surfaces dehydrogenation of cyclohexane to benzene occurs. The reacti
vity of the (5 x 20) surface, however, is three to four orders of magn
itude lower than that of both the (1 x 1) surface and the topographica
lly similar Pt{111} surface. The high reactivity of the (1 x 1) surfac
e is surprising since no softened C-H mode is observed.
