Abstract
We describe the haemodynamic and oxygen transport response in a patien t undergoing exchange transfusion for severe falciparum malaria. We fo und that exchange transfusion produced a significant increase in left ventricular stroke work index, systemic oxygen delivery and oxygen con sumption. This potentially beneficial effect of exchange transfusion h as not been reported previously.
