Abstract
The current delimitation of Lachnaea L. and Cryptadenia Meisn. is base d on the inflorescence morphology. In Lachnaea both indeterminate and determinate inflorescences occur, whereas in Cryptadenia only determin ate inflorescences are present. The indeterminate inflorescences in La chnaea are capitate or umbellate. The determinate inflorescences in bo th genera comprise a solitary, terminal flower. It is concluded that t he two genera cannot be distinguished on inflorescence structure.
