Z. Wang et al., INFLUENCE OF EXCHANGE BOND DISORDER ON THE MAGNETIC-PROPERTIES OF (PD1-XFEX)(95)MN-5 NEAR T-C, Journal of applied physics, 76(10), 1994, pp. 6356-6358
A summary of a detailed study of the field and temperature dependent a
c susceptibility of a series of ternary (Pd1-xFex)(95)Mn-5 alloys near
the ferromagnetic ordering temperature T-c is presented. By following
the behavior of the crossover line (a line of maxima in the field dep
endent susceptibility above T-c, the maxima moving upwards in temperat
ure but decreasing in amplitude with increasing field) it is possible
to catalog the influence of exchange bond disorder on aspects of the c
ritical behavior. These ternary systems are not soft ferromagnets and
thus asymptotic critical exponents are difficult to estimate using thi
s technique. Nevertheless, effective exponents (i.e., obtained away fr
om the critical point) clearly reflect the presence of significant var
iance in the distribution of exchange bonds.
