Abstract
X-ray-diffraction patterns and Mossbauer spectra of Sm-2(Fe,Ga)(17)C-1 .5 alloys have been studied. The results of x-ray-diffraction patterns and Mossbauer spectra indicate that little alpha-Fe and carbonides ap pear in Sm-2(Fe,Ga)(17)C-1.5 alloys. The addition of a few Ga atoms sh ow that the thermal stability in Sm-2(Fe,Ga)(17)C-1.5 alloys is gettin g better. Structural analyses indicate C atoms as interstitial atoms o ccupying the 9d site. Ga atoms seem to substitute partially for Fe ato ms and occupy preferentially the 18h site.
